Sol Kadhi

Sol Kadhi is a delicious digestive drink made of kokum (Garcinia Indica), coconut milk, cilantro, and some spices.

Kokum is widely grown in goa, Kerela, and Karnataka, and hence it is used as a souring agent in the preparation of curries and sol kadhi.

It is a famous summer drink in the entire Konkan belt of Maharashtra.

As a kid, I had studied in school that the staple diet in Goa is fish curry and rice, and hence during my first trip to goa, I tried their authentic fish thali in a local restaurant in south goa.

They served a vast thali (plate ) with a variety of fried fish and fish curry, along with it was this small bowl of sol kadhi (Given as a digestive).

I instantly fell in love with its pink color and the sour, tangy taste that it sets and since then, it has been one of my favorite drinks.

Kokum helps in cooling the body. Hence people in the Konkan region use it as a digestive drink.

Most of the local restaurants in Goa and Malvan serve sol kadhi as a digestive beverage at the end of the meal.

It can either be used as a digestive drink at the end of the meal or can be eaten with rice.

I love the pretty pink flush that it gives to the drink. If you have never tried this drink you must try it at least once.

I have used fresh coconut milk made at home, However, you can use the readymade coconut milk too.
